The Life & Soul Academy hosted a ‘Flex & Prep‘ Workshop as a great pre-term booster for dancers.

It was a great day with students, full of high energy, tasty juices & not to mention the fab no-chocolate-chocolate brownies!

Named Almond Butter Fudge, these brownie-like bites are super simple to make and act as a great snack for dancers before and after class. From the book Deliciously Ella, we had a go at making them as a healthy alternative to snacking.

The students loved them and wanted to make more when they got home! An ideal snack for an energy boost… Just take them out the freezer and away you go! Here is how to make them!

you will need

Place the dates in a saucepan with a little boiling water. Allow them to cook for 5 minutes, until they are really soft and sticking together. If there is any water left in the pan drain it and allow the dates to cool for a couple of minutes.

Place the almond butter, coconut oil and cacao powder in a food processor and add the dates in before blending for a minute or two, until a sticky paste forms. Don’t worry if you haven’t got a food processor. It just means you’ll have a bit of an arm workout mixing!

Line a roughly 25cm baking dish with baking paper and pour the mix in before putting it into the freezer to set for at least 3 hours before serving.

Store in the freezer. When you want to enjoy a piece, take it out of the freezer and allow it to warm for a few minutes before eating. You will find most of the ingredients at your local supermarket or health food store.

Top Tip- Try adding nuts and raisins to this to change the texture and add more of a crunch.
